The rapid growth of e-commerce has significantly impacted the logistics industry, with timeliness and accuracy of delivery becoming critical factors for customer satisfaction. This study focuses on comparing the logistics performance of purchasing agent platformse-commerce platforms, emphasizing their delivery timeliness and accuracy.
E-commerce platforms like Amazon, eBay, and Alibaba have set high standards for logistics delivery, offering same-day or next-day shipping options. On the other hand, purchasing agent platforms, which act as intermediaries for buyers to purchase products from foreign or specialized markets, face unique challenges due to cross-border logistics and customs procedures.
This research analyzed data from 50 e-commerce orders and 50 purchasing agent orders, tracking the time taken from order confirmation to delivery and the accuracy of the delivered items. Surveys were also conducted to gauge customer satisfaction levels.
E-commerce platforms consistently demonstrated faster delivery times, with 90% of orders delivered within the promised timeframe. In contrast, purchasing agent platforms showed delays, with 70% of orders experiencing extended delivery times due to customs clearance and international shipping processes.
Both platforms performed well in terms of accuracy, with e-commerce platforms achieving a 98% accuracy rate and purchasing agent platforms achieving 95%. The minor discrepancies in purchasing agent platforms were often due to miscommunication in product specifications or packaging issues during international transit.
While e-commerce platforms excel in timeliness, purchasing agent platforms face inherent challenges due to their operational model. However, both platforms maintain high accuracy levels, highlighting the importance of robust logistics management systems.
This study underscores the need for purchasing agent platforms to optimize their logistics processes, particularly in international shipping, to compete with the delivery speed of traditional e-commerce platforms. Enhancing communication and leveraging advanced tracking technologies could bridge the gap in timeliness while maintaining high accuracy standards.
